2019 Elections: Why I'm supporting Buhari - Obasanjo's son

The President of Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO) and son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Olujonwo, says since politics is not a war or battle, he has every right to support the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari as against his father’s choice of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Olujonwo disclosed this in Abuja on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists on the activities of his group during a press conference held at the National Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I believe I’m here as an individual, youth and someone who believes that this government is for the youth and future generation.
“This government is leading us towards economic diversification as this nation is blessed with vast resources. I believe in this government as an individual and I’m supporting Mr President. I can’t speak on behalf of my father.
“When you get to certain stage and point in your life, you can choose your path. My father remains my father despite different political ideologies.
“We need to progress mentally. Politics is meant to unite us. We can agree to disagree. That is the kind of politics we are trying to promote. Politics is to unite, not to divide us,” he said in response to questions that sought to know why he decided not to support his father’s preferred presidential candidate.
The young Obasanjo, who said the former architecture of the country’s economy wouldn’t have lasted for long, lauded the successes recorded by the Buhari-administration in the areas of agriculture and road construction.
The BYO president expressed optimism that President Buhari would still win in 2019 despite the propaganda against him on social media, stressing that the president still has the support of the grassroots that determines winners of elections.
Also commenting, the BYO National Secretary, Dr. Garba Umar, said the integrity of Mr President also gave him an edge over the PDP candidate.

The group’s scribe lauded the achievements recorded in power generation, rice production, the fight against insurgency, and the resolve to work on the Second Niger Bridge in the South east geo-political zone in spite of limited resources.
